Congressman asks for forgiveness after caught kissing staffer
From the angle on the video, it's hard to tell if there was misletoe hanging up above, but there's no disputing that freshman GOP Rep. Vance McAllister (La.) was getting it with one of his congressional aides two days before Christmas.
The surveillance tape was taken on Dec. 23, and has been posted online by The Ouachita Citizen, a newspaper in West. Monroe, La. The video is reportedly from inside McAllister's district office in Monroe.
McAllister, who is married with children, ran as a conservative Christian and won a special election on Nov. 16 to replace Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-LA).
Politico reports that payroll records indicate the woman is a part-time aide.
McAllister did issue a statement Monday afternoon, and of course, he's sorry and wants to be forgiven.
"There's no doubt I've fallen short and I'm asking for forgiveness," McAllister said. "I'm asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve. Trust is something I know has to be earned whether your a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I've disappointed."
