March on Springfield for Marriage Equality as fall session legislative begins

Today is the first day of the fall veto session for the Illinois state legislature in Springfield and supporters of marriage equality plan to make their voices heard. Today's big march comes after supporters in the State House failed to secure the necessary votes to pass the bill back in the spring session, a vote never even taking place after the state senate had approved the bill on Valentine's Day. Meanwhile, actions over the summer - including the Supreme Court of the United State's overturning of the Defense of Marriage Act - leave supporters with hope of a renewed groundswell of support for same-sex marriage in Illinois.
